Wayne Gretzky, nicknamed “The Great One,” is widely considered to be the greatest hockey player and one of the most iconic athletes of all time.
Gretzky led the Edmonton Oilers to four Stanley Cup Championships before coming to the U.S. to play for the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers. He also led Canada to three gold medals at the Canada Cup. The highest scoring player in NHL history, Gretzky racked up 2,857 points in 1,487 regular season games over the course of his career. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999 immediately after retiring. Named the league’s MVP a record nine times, he is the only player to have his jersey (No. 99) retired league-wide.
With Gretzky at the helm as the program’s executive director, Canada’s men’s Olympic hockey team ended its 50-year drought and took home the gold medal at the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics.
A hockey legend, international sports icon, business leader and philanthropist, Wayne Gretzky can bring greatness to audiences worldwide.
